About Staying safe in the medina
The UK Foreign Office advises that people posing as official guides are common in the medina: use only guides with an official badge. Pickpocketing and bag-snatching happen in the historic districts. It also warns of methanol poisoning from illicit alcoholic drinks, and notes that drinking alcohol anywhere other than a licensed venue is illegal (GOV.UK).
